There are many different ways to make fake blood, some of which is only suitable for certain circumstances. We have found out a few different methods of making fake blood, which is demonstrated in the below video.
The first method we were shown was a combination of two ingredients:
- Cheap washing up liquid (which must be GREEN!)
- Red food colouring
All you have to do is mix the two together. This method produces some extremely realistic looking fake blood, which is achieved because of the red food colouring and the green of the washing up liquid. This recipe is an extremely cheap way to make realistic looking fake blood, and also washes out of clothing due to the washing up liquid being soap based. However, this also means that this type of fake blood is unsuitable for use in scenes where there is water involved; i.e. in the rain or in a shower/bath. Another disadvantage is that this method is not edible and is not able to be consumed, if you were to hold it in your mouth it would eventually froth and bubble up.
This recipe is a go-to method for making large amounts of realistic looking blood quickly when being used in dry conditions.

The second method we found was an edible version of fake blood, which consisted of cocoa powder, powdered sugar, cornflour, water, and red food colouring (above, from left). Like before, you mix the ingredients together to produce the desired effect. If the blood is turning out too watery (probably due to the water and food colouring), add more cornflour, as it will thicken the overall mixture if you so desire.
