Before we started on the creation of our trailer, we were tasked with replicating an existing trailer, matching the shots and angles used in the original trailer in order to get an idea into the structure and pacing of a trailer. We chose to remake the trailer for the film Don't Hang Up, since it was an engaging trailer to watch and featured many varying camera angles and shot types to perfect. We believe that we matched the trailer almost one to one, with the only differences being the inversion of the main characters' genders to show a clear contrast with the initial trailer. There are only a few shots that we were unable to replicate; these being birds eye view shots that would have required the use of expensive equipment to replicate a similar shot. Overall, our Swede went well, as we managed to replicate the vast majority of shots, angles and locations to the best of our ability, which results in a fairly accurate representation of the original trailer for Don't Hang Up.
We swap genders between the actual characters and ourselves as it was easier to find suitable actors. The concept is still the same. Each shot is meant to replicate the original shot and its angle as fully as possible. Some shots were difficult to replicate thanks to the filming conditions in the trailer being rainy or having a filming location out of our reach but we gave our everything to make sure he shots would still represent as much as possible and so our audience could be able to tell the story by just looking at our version and not the original.
