Storyline IdeaOur storyline idea is based around the theme of Black Eyed Kids, who in this trailer will play with living beings (humans). They search for the company of people due to their childish nature. The younger children are unable to be looked at for prolonged periods of time; they disappear if they are looked at for too long. Jess, our main villain in this trailer, is essentially an older child who can be interacted with due to her longer lifespan spent on earth.
A detective, who is sent to deal with the case of the Black Eyed Kids due to their more frequent appearances, follows a certain case of a specific child (Jess) in an attempt to figure out and solve what is going on. However, the detective is unable to recover from the attack they sustain from their encounter with the child. This will end the trailer, leaving the viewer in suspense and wondering what will happen next. |
Location/SettingThe setting of our trailer is going to be based on a variety of locales. This will include an office (the location of the detective's interrogation), a house (the detective's home where she continues to try and resolve the case), as well as a dark alley (where the first sighting of the children is seen). A river is also required for a brief shot, where the detective meets an old lady and questions a man on the children. Finally, a forest is needed as a location for the attack.

Character IdeasOur characters that will feature in our trailer will include:
|
InfluencesOur initial idea for our trailer is based around the legend of black eyed children, who are paranormal creatures that resemble the form of a child, and repeatedly ask victims to enter their house. If the victim allows them, then the "child" inflicts a dangerous illness upon the victim. There is one alleged account where someone who survived was able to tell the story where they allegedly got cancer at an alarming rate from the occurrence. We have decided to base our trailer upon this idea as it was an interesting concept with an attachment to children acting as the basis for our horror.
We found a short film based around this myth called The Artifice, which is a high quality short film that uses this legend to great effect. We will not steal the exact circumstances from this film, but take heavy inspiration from it. We will instead have the child playing with its victim rather than just repeatedly asking to come in. This will show the childish demeanour of the paranormal creature to make the trailer more scary. |
Mise-en-SceneLighting in our trailer will be mostly all natural, but some of it will be altered in Final Cut Pro X when we come to edit the trailer.
Clothing wise, the Detective shall be wearing either a suit when she is on duty or regular, more casual clothing when she is off duty. The Office Workers will also wear smart clothes. The Child and other children will wear white clothes that are perfectly clean to give them an unnerving feel. The rest of the cast will be wearing ordinary everyday clothes. The props we shall use are listed below:
|
Target AudienceOur target audience will be those aged twelve and above; this is because there is not a lot of gore featured in the film, so will be suitable for the majority of ages. We will be able to include a small amount of blood as the target audience is as old as they should be to experience a large amount of gore.
|
ReleaseThe film will be released in cinemas as it is a higher budget film that does not technically count as an indie film. It will be shown at most cinemas due to this, but may not be shown in all. It will most likely be shown for around a month as this is the length of time most films are shown for in a cinema release.
|
Risks and IssuesThere will be issues regarding the amount of gory content that can be shown due to the age rating we are aiming for, however this can be avoided fairly easily. There will be filming issues for any murder scenes; we will have to provide a notice announcing our intention to film such scenes to prevent the public from reacting in a negative way. Before filming we will have to fill out a risk assessment document to give safety precautions and prove that we are aware of such precautions. The size of the cast will mean that we will have to care for them all during the filming; this means keeping everyone safe at all times during filming.
